North Skye Broadband is all about our community, and we need community support in every area we expand into. This comes in the form of investors, local volunteers and supportive landowners. Communities have so much to gain; not only faster broadband for families, schools and businesses but also a provider that cares about service to its customers and returns all its profits to the community!
Profits for the community
North Skye Broadband will be a non-profit ‘community benefit’ society or similar type of organisation.
Its running costs should be easily sustained and any profit can only be reinvested in improvements to the service or in direct benefits for the local community.
Jobs for the community
In recent decades Skye has suffered from a reduced number of job opportunities, reliable high speed Internet gives businesses and homeworkers in our communities a level playing field. We love the idea that this can lead to more job opportunities so young people don’t have to move away. More young families means better support for local schools, post offices, village shops… altogether a more sustainable community.
Although North Skye Broadband has been founded wholly by volunteers we aim to retain long term knowledge, professionalism and stability so we hope to employ local staff and management teams. As North Skye Broadband grows, we intend to create more jobs throughout the North Skye Broadband area.
